she inspires us!

although that mustache would not survive today's harsh "facial hair on women" views, she was quite amazing. we are hoping to do a whole bunch of "frida" ban.dos for spring. my friend rachel gave me this book when we first started ban.do. i nearly fell off my chair when i saw it (and yes, i really almost did fall off - - i know people just say that, but i really, really did. i admit i was drinking at the time, but i really attribute it to the book.) if you want a copy go here (and just make sure you are either in a secure seat or sitting on the floor when you open it).

I went to the Frida Kahlo exhibit in Philly in April, and I was moved to tears. There were personal photos displayed that had never been seen before and I couldn't see them through my tear-blurred eyes. Ok, I could see them, but they took my breath away, seeing something so personal and real. I cleaned out the gift shop of all the Frida Kahlo magnets though. They're holding up my electric and cable bills.
