eh. we can't say that we were blown away with the fashion at the sag awards, but our girl diane kruger made our hearts sing in this jason wu number, especially because it reminded us of the vera wang beauty that michelle willams wore to the 2006 oscars. do you guys think pacey had anything to do with this? both ladies were smart enough to pair that lovely mustard color with the perfect red lip. now all they needed was this little sparkler to serve as icing on the cake.

and no, we did not take our tights off. since it's been a bit cold here in l.a. (below 70 degrees), all the girls at ban.do have been wearing our best tights. so we decided that we would have an office wide competition to see who had the best of the best. well let's just say that these girls play hard ball. i just grabbed my sparkliest (not a word, i know) pair of tights and thought i would take it, but oh how wrong i was. these girls brought the lace, the leopard, the shine, the fishnet and the sequins. it was tough, but the sequins took it. madeline, our winner, actually hand stitched sequins onto her tights. uh-may-zing! the prize was gonna just be candy, cause we love us some candy, but madeline decided she would like a cupcake instead. congrats, maddy. now what competition should we have next? we were thinking either best nails or best fake eye lashes. do you guys have any ideas? oh, and which pair of tights would you vote for?

well we wish we could answer that, but we can't. a group of us ban.do gals met some friends over at the roger room last week, and the bartender was kind enough to let us sit at some reserved tables assuring us that the party that had them reserved would not be there for several hours. well about 30 minutes later a different bartender came by to tell us that these tables were reserved for jacki g.'s birthday party, and we would have to move. we said that we'd be happy to, but he changed his mind and said, "let's just see what happens, she should be here at 9:00 with 30 people in tow." well, that's where the fun started. we decided to call the bar and say we were jackie g. and we were angry that people were at our table. well, we did, but no one answered, so we left a message. and then another (this time in a russian accent - - thanks, madeline). and then a couple more. a few minutes later the bartender came by and said jackie called and she was pissed but it was hard to hear her message. so we held in our laughter until he left and then did the only reasonable thing . . . call again. well, jackie never showed and the bartenders did not find the humor in a bunch of ladies making crank calls to their establishment. oh well. at least the drinks were good.

cause it's new year's eve. while we sip champagne and kiss the loved ones around us we are thanking our lucky stars for 2009. this past year has been such an amazing one for us at ban.do! It started off by us winning the Sweetest Things Style from Daily Candy which we still are excited about! the beautiful no. 89 made the cover of Instyle Weddings and we found big fans of this ban.do in Taylor Swift (but Tay loves this one and this one too!) Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry.

Project Runway Finale!

Sorry readers that this post is so late! We have been extremely busy at ban.do (we are sooo lucky!) but we couldn't go without commenting on the amazingness that is Project Runway. We will miss our weekly dose of Tim Gunn & Heidi's outfits/hairstyles (can the girl just not look good one time..???) So let's discuss! We must admit we loved how adorable Carol Hannah is and this was one of our personal fav designs (Hello cute party dress!) But all three ladies did a tremendous job on their collections. Runway shows are always super exciting to watch and this one was no exception! We were perched on the edge of our seats until the very end... and Irina did deserve the win! Her collection of chunky knits, intricate detail, and metallics were absolutely stunning - though we think some pops of color would have been great too. But she put her looks together fabulously. The gloves, the purses and those hats.... Oh those hats were beyond! Although the show is about making beautiful garments it was nice to see accessories worked into the runway to pull the looks together. Plus, we'd love to rock one of those cozy sweaters wearing heart d. Glamour at its finest! :) What did you ladies think about the finale? Were you surprised? Disappointed? on august 4th 2008 jamie and i launched our website, www.shopbando.com. it was a simple, cheerful site packed with twenty something images of jamie modeling headbands that we had made while sitting (and sweating) in the living room of my house. mere moments after launching, we got our first sale . . . then another, and another. it was exhilarating. people were actually buying our creations. and they weren't cheap, so we figured we must be onto something special here. our friends in the blog world helped spread the word and then soon after, dailycandy contacted us. we screamed and jumped up and down . . . this publicity would most certainly make us millionaires. well, it didn't, but it did give us invaluable exposure. next came the magazines, our publicists, celebrity clients and shop owners, both here and lands far, far away. before we knew it we had a real business, which was quite scary since neither of us had a lick of business experience. still, we pressed on and have been so fortunate to have met tons of amazing people that have gladly lent a hand and help steer us in the right direction.

that leads us to today. just over a year later we are at a major crossroads. it's time to grow ban.do (we're hoping for world wide domination), and we would like to take you along for the ride. we are growing our brand, updating the site, adding new features, new photos and new collections. it might look a little strange over there for a while, but we promise the outcome is going to be amazing. we could be responsible and patient (two qualities we are a bit lacking) and just wait until everything is ready and share it with you all at once, and then we thought better of it. we actually thought it would be way more fun to share the process with you. a little behind the scenes of sorts. and then, you can grow with us. we'll take you on photo shoots with us, share our delirium when we are up designing pieces at midnight (and being scared by a ghost that haunts our studio), heck we might even just post videos of ourselves dancing (something we seem to do a lot). so please stay tuned. our plan is to post at least twice a week and hopefully get this twitter thing going, too.
